Starting with its name, the Romantic Zone is one of the destination’s most multifaceted places, as it also encompasses the areas known as Olas Altas, Basilio Badillo, South Side, Old Vallarta and Emiliano Zapata neighborhood. In addition, an inclusive community began to take shape here in the mid-1980s, with establishments and services aimed at LGBT visitors, which, along with the warmth of Puerto Vallarta’s people, have contributed to pampering and making this group feel at home here. Thus, it has become the ideal place for them to vacation comfortably, safely and enjoyably.

To Start

A brief walk along Playa Los Muertos, one of the destination’s most emblematic beaches and a nerve center for the LGBT community for several decades, is the best way to begin. While you walk and enjoy the invigorating sea breeze, you’re sure to see visitors and residents alike getting their morning exercise or taking the first rays of the sun, either on the sand or at one of the excellent beach clubs in the area, ideal for savoring a delicious breakfast with an ocean view or relaxing on comfortable lounge chairs. At midmorning, a good plan is to cool off in the pool, accompanied by a delicious cocktail, the perfect occasion to socialize with friends or meet new people.

Beaches

You can get to Playa Los Muertos, the most popular, well known and visited beach in Puerto Vallarta, through various public accesses via the streets that lead down to it. And with the addition of the modern pier in 2013, the area acquired a new facet that mixes the old with the new and the traditional with the modern. From here, you can also take boats to other beaches located in the southern part of the bay to spend the rest of the day.

Dining

If you decide to spend the day at the beach, a wide variety of oceanfront restaurants will welcome you with typical specialties prepared with fish and seafood. If you are looking for something more refined, the beach clubs offer more elaborate dishes. And on Basilio Badillo Street, you will find Italian, French, Mexican, American and Asian cuisines, among others.

Shopping

During the afternoons, the Romantic Zone really begins to come alive. Here you can choose among visiting the numerous art galleries with very different styles, strolling the streets in the Basilio Badillo and Olas Altas areas (where you can do some shopping in the various boutiques) or simply enjoying a good coffee in one of many establishments.

When the sun begins to go down, one of the best options for enjoying the spectacular sunsets and starting to prepare for the night is from the heights of a sky bar, privileged locations that offer 180-degree views of the bay, city and mountains.

Nightlife

Puerto Vallarta’s LGBT night scene is internationally renowned, thanks to its ambience and variety of clubs, bars, lounges and discos. Some of the most frequented nightclubs are in the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood, between Ignacio L. Vallarta and Lázaro Cárdenas streets, where the fun lasts until dawn.

For those who are more relaxed or want to talk quietly, Púlpito Street is a must, with elegant bars offering signature drinks, as well as innovative and classic cocktails.

With its attractions, vibrant atmosphere and innumerable options to enjoy both day and night, the Romantic Zone is proving to be one of the best inclusive hotspots worldwide and an ideal place for romance as a couple or fun with friends.

“There are lots of reasons why we have advertised in Vallarta Lifestyles for several years. One of them is that they know pretty well their target, because they know who are their readers and they adapt as much as possible the content and material that is offered. For these reasons they have a growing number of readers which is very important for us. Another reason is that many people  —including us— think that the magazine has been as a serious publication since its beginnings. Historically, Vallarta Lifestyles has known how to capture the audience and has done it pretty well."

“Without doubt, Vallarta Lifestyles is the best positioned Magazine in the region. Its solid presence keeps a strong and always fresh vision about the destination, as well as activities. Besides, I consider it a great intellectual contribution for the well written articles that are in each issue.”

“We started to advertise in Vallarta Lifestyles because since its beginnings and to date it keeps using modern technological equipment to produce it and it is possible to notice that in the quality of the magazine, which offers interesting topics about the life of our destination through its articles and interviews to well known personalities. Actually, I keep a collection in my personal library.”
