Vallarta Pride Confirms May Events

The Vallarta Pride Organization Committee has confirmed the dates and times of the most important events to take place during the fourth annual pride festival to take place in Puerto Vallarta May 16 – 30. The festival theme this year is “We Are Family,” and will bring together art and cultural events that include film, gastronomy, parties, lectures, health fairs, exhibitions, marches, and, for the first time, legal same-sex weddings in Puerto Vallarta.

This year, the International March Against Homophobia will take place on May 17 at 6 pm, starting along Fco. Medina Ascencio Ave., by the Sheraton Hotel, and continuing all the way to Los Arcos at the Malecón.

The annual Drag Derby, a one-of-a-kind race that takes contestants in heels through a number of businesses in and around Pulpito St., will take place on May 26 at 7 pm. This is a fundraising event that benefits the Amapas Neighborhood Association.

A Hot & Sexy Fiesta will take place on May 27 at 8 pm, in which the Vallarta Pride 2016 Ambassador will be crowned and members of the organization committee will be presented. There will be live performances and much more.

As its name indicates, the Women’s Party is a special event for women only during Vallarta Pride. For the third year in a row, it will be organized by Pink & Proud and will feature live entertainment, a DJ and other surprises. The location is yet to be determined, but the date of the party will be Friday, May 27 at 9 pm.

For the first time ever, the Organization Committee welcomes The Circuit Party, an event scheduled to take place on Friday, May 27 from 1 – 9 pm at Hotel Puerto de Luna. The event will also feature a DJ and live entertainment.

As it is now traditional, the Gay Pride Parade will take place May 28 at 5 pm, starting at the Sheraton Hotel, and continuing all the way to Lázaro Cárdenas Plaza. This will set the stage for the largest outdoor party of the festival.
