From April 6th to 9th, 2023, the International Convention Center was the venue for the Copa Vallarta de Gimnasia Rítmica 2023 (Vallarta Rhythmic Gymnastics Cup), an event organized by the Consejo del Deporte de Jalisco in coordination with the Federación Mexicana de Gimnasia (FMG) and the Asociación Gimnástica del Estado de Jalisco.

Approximately, 150 gymnasts from Mexico participated in this event that had two main objectives:

  • To award points for the national ranking of Elite, B and C categories.
  • To be part of the selective process for the national championships and invited clubs from other countries.

Laura Patricia Acosta, coordinator of the Comité Técnico Nacional de Gimnasia Rítmica of the FMG, shared that during the four-day event, 18 artistic gymnastics clubs from the states of Baja California, Coahuila, Jalisco, Michoacán, Nayarit and Tamaulipas, as well as Mexico City, participated.

Some of the Banderas Bay clubs and schools that participated in the Copa Vallarta de Gimnasia Rítmica 2023 are CEDEM Puerto Vallarta, ESCARDEC, MOEDANCE and Rítmica Abilu Puerto Vallarta.

It is worth mentioning that the National Rhythmic Gymnastics Team, in addition to gracing this event, had an outstanding sports exhibition on Saturday morning, where they showed some of their best routines and choreographies.
