What brought a Broadway star from Manhattan to Vallarta · Nayarit?
For decades, the Vallarta · Nayarit lifestyle has attracted and inspired visitors from around the world to return to continually return to our destination. Puerto Vallarta’s unrivaled beauty and welcoming culture capture the hearts of all who experience them. There is also a growing trend of loyal visitors who are transitioning from visitor to full-time residents. In this article we explore the journey of one of those “expats” who have chosen Puerto Vallarta as their year-round paradise home:

Kevin-Anthony, Broadway star and international headliner, is the focus of this interview and explains his journey from United States to Mexico.

1. What was the key factor to make Puerto Vallarta more than just another tour stop?
I’ve always said, there is never a direct path to happiness, but when you find that place, you just jump at the opportunity. Puerto Vallarta is my happy place.

2. You’ve had a very colorful career, what are some highlights?
My first public singing performance at the age of 11 in front of “The Little Ivories.” That’s where I got hooked.

In college I toured with “The Continental Singers” traveling throughout the United States and abroad. From there Christian recording group “Truth” and then as a regular on the PTL Show with Jim & Tammy Faye Bakker and The Billy Graham Crusades.

I landed in California and did a series of children videos for Nickelodeon, with Bright Ideas Productions.

One Saturday I saw an audition notice for the Broadway musical “Miss Saigon” and participated. I was cast in the “1st National Broadway Tour of Miss Saigon”. This led to an eight-year career in leading roles on Broadway and touring companies: Grease, Dreamgirls and Saturday Night Fever.

I started a production company and created “Black 2: Broadway”, a concert series in Times Square that sold out for four years.

Then, a headlining job offer from Carnival Cruise Line followed.

3. What inspired you to come to Mexico?
Carnival Cruise Line brought me to Puerto Vallarta weekly. I fell in love with the people, culture, food and weather. It was a breath of fresh air from the hustle and bustle of NYC. In 2017, while I was on vacation with family at the Vidanta Resort in Nuevo Vallarta, during one of the entertainment shows, the headliner was inviting guests to sing on mic, and by chance she asked me. I agreed and received a great response. Later I connected with Teresita Hermosillo, the talent supervisor, and she offered me a job. Fate opened the door to my desire to be here and I stepped right through it!

4. What are your plans going forward?
Although I will continue to headline shows in both Puerto Vallarta and Nuevo Vallarta, I will also be producing three shows for Danny Mininni’s ACT2PV. Coming from the United States, I’m excited to present Lauren J. Stovall, Joi Carter and myself in “A Motown Classic Review,” “A Tribute to Gladys Knight” (starring Lauren J. Stovall) and “Kevin-Anthony Sings: Lionel Richie and Stevie Wonder.”

Show Dates:
· October 17th, 2021 – Tribute to Lionel Richie & Stevie Wonder
· November 17th, 2021 – Motown Classic Review
· November 26th, 2021 – Tribute to Gladys Knight
