Nostalgia: A Puerto Vallarta Love Story

Nostalgia is one of the oldest sculptures on the Puerto Vallarta’s Malecón, as it was unveiled there in 1984. As is evident, this figure represents a seated couple, who calmly enjoy their romance while observing in the distance the town, the sea and mountains.
Nostalgia’s author is Ramiz Barquet and this sculpture pays homage to a love story starring precisely between this sculptor and his wife Nelly Galván-Duque Tamborrel, who, after meeting, they unfortunately lost their track each other for 27 years. Later, in a twist of fate, they met again and got married, a union that lasted 33 years.
Nostalgia is one of the most representative works of Puerto Vallarta, since it is basically a dedication to the fascinating and romantic effect that our destination has on all who live and/or visit this beautiful place.
Nostalgia was the second sculpture placed on the Malecón, which was installed a few years after El Caballito de Mar (1976).
