Summer is the perfect time for a pleasant trip to the beach, for residents and visitors in Puerto Vallarta alike, who look to tan, relax, and enjoy the natural treasures of our destination. In the southern part of the city, there are options that are truly worth visiting, as their beauty and entertainment is peculiar, and ideal to have a swell time surrounded by family and/or friends.

Las Gemelas Beach

Located on Carretera 200 Sur, just a 15-minute drive from El Centro, you may find one of Puerto Vallarta’s most beautiful beaches. The blue-green color of the sea, transparent waters, calm waves, and fine sand are what make this the perfect spot for any type of relaxing getaway. It is also ideal for snorkeling, and walking along the beach while observing “chololos” (known as hermit crabs). Additionally, there are vendors and artisans who offer seafood and snacks, like the famous Pescado Embarazado (or a local fish skewer), as well as different types of jewelry to take home as a keepsake.

Las Ánimas Beach

Positioned between Boca de Tomatlán and Quimixto, this isolated beach is only accessible through the sea. The parting point, from which you take a “panga” or water taxi, is precisely Boca de Tomatlán, a fishing village that is approximately a 30-minute drive from El Centro of Puerto Vallarta. Las Ánimas Beach consists of various small restaurants which serve dishes made of fresh seafood, and locally-cultivated ingredients, as well as refreshing drinks to enjoy. Moreover, there are a series of activities for adventurers, such as the fun trip on the “banana,” or parasailing (a parachute pulled by a “panga”), during which you may better appreciate the sea’s clear waters, and the leafy tropical landscape of the place.

Los Muertos Beach

Located south of the Malecón, this beach begins at Venustiano Carranza Street, and extends for 1.25 miles. Full of history, and a typical essence, this beach is Puerto Vallarta’s most visited. With multiple restaurants which include options from the simplest to gourmets, this is the perfect place for social people who are looking to delight their palate. Los Muertos Beach also has a modern pier, built in 2013, another unmissable spot to visit both in the day or at night.

Whether you are looking for a time to relax, an adventure, or to simply have an unforgettable experience, without a doubt, any of these beaches in Puerto Vallarta is an excellent option to do so.
