“Al Calor del Mariachi”: Celebrating Mexican Music in Puerto Vallarta
Puerto Vallarta is gearing up to host the first edition of the “Al Calor del Mariachi” summer festival, an event aimed at celebrating the roots of Mexican music and honoring this cultural icon of Jalisco. From June 27th to July 1st, 2023, musicians, cultural promoters, and the general public will immerse themselves in a five-day journey filled with music, gastronomy, folk dance, art, and entertainment.
The festival will take place at various venues, including the Sheraton Buganvilias Resort & Convention Center, the International Convention Center, and other locations in Puerto Vallarta. Led by Ángel Martínez, general director of Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlán, in collaboration with Mariachi, Cultura y Tradición, A.C., and with the support of the Academia de Artes y Cultura de Jalisco, this event will bring together mariachi groups from different parts of Mexico and abroad.
“Al Calor del Mariachi” will offer three types of programs:
- General Program: It will include conferences, workshops, and shows, allowing attendees to enjoy various activities related to Mexican music.
- Educational Program: It will offer three consecutive days of mariachi professionalization workshops, master classes, and a series of lectures, providing a unique opportunity to learn from experts in the field.
- Artistic Program: It will showcase local, national, and international mariachis, with a public concert at the Malecón and the highly anticipated concert by the Mariachi Femenil Nuevo Tecalitlán at the International Convention Center in Puerto Vallarta.
Festival attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a comprehensive exhibition of products and services related to the world of mariachi, as well as a gastronomic showcase, folk dance, visual art, and fashion, offering an enriching cultural experience.
In addition to the musical and cultural offerings, a charity gala will be held at the Sheraton hotel, with the purpose of raising funds for institutions that promote culture, education, art, and music.
