Announcing the 2024 Puerto Vallarta International Film Festival
From June 14th to 17th, 2024, Puerto Vallarta will be dressed in elegance to host the 24th edition of the International Film Festival. This event, which showcases the city on a national and international level, attracts prominent figures from the cinematic world.
Venue and Schedule
The University of Guadalajara, as the host venue, has revealed the details of this edition. The festival will feature a total of 37 films: 10 full-length movies, 12 short films, and an additional five short films as part of the Mar en Corto festival. The diverse selection of offerings promises to captivate film enthusiasts.
Puerto Vallarta: A City of Cinema
During the festival presentation, Dr. Jorge Téllez López, the rector of the Centro Universitario de la Costa, emphasized the significance of this event: “Events like these project Puerto Vallarta as a cinematic city, and the festival is one of the cultural treasures of the University of Guadalajara.”
Special Guests
Among this year’s special guests is the charismatic actor Diego Luna. Additionally, another shining star at the festival is actress and singer Najwa Nimri. The opening gala will feature the screening of the film “Un mexicano en la luna”, directed by Francis Levy Lavalle.
Awards and Special Screenings
The festival wouldn’t be complete without prestigious awards. The coveted La Iguana de Oro (Golden Iguana) Awards and the Maguey Awards will be presented. Furthermore, on Sunday, June 16th, at 4:00pm at Cinépolis, the film “Abel,” directed by Diego Luna, will be screened. On the same day, at 7:00pm on the Malecón, you can enjoy free cinema with the film “Maestro: La Historia de Benjamín Galindo”, directed by Gonzalo Lamela.
Closing Gala
The closing gala will take place on Monday, June 17th, at 6:00pm. During this event, the drama “Corina,” directed by Urzula Barba, will be screened, and the Mezcal Award will be presented. It promises to be an unforgettable night for film and culture enthusiasts.
