Breakfast-Conference at Casa Velas: Economic Environment and Expectations 2024
The Casa Velas resort in Marina Vallarta was the venue for the “Economic Environment and Expectations 2024” breakfast-conference, an informative event organized and presented by Actinver, a Mexican company dedicated to investment management.
This panel was led by Enrique Covarrubias, chief economist and analysis director at Actinver, who gave an insightful presentation on the current economic situation, highlighting that our country is facing two important revolutions: artificial intelligence and nearshoring (the idea that Mexico is increasingly integrated into the US economy).
It was mentioned that central banks and governments worked to stimulate the economy after the pandemic, but this led to inflation and high interest rates. The United States experienced remarkable economic growth, although it now faces a labor shortage.
The discussion covered the labor market, inflation, and equity performance, particularly in technology companies. It was noted that infrastructure investment in the United States has been significant, and continued growth is expected over the medium term. However, there are differing views on equity performance and inflation.
Godofredo Vidal Gutiérrez, director of Actinver Puerto Vallarta, commented: “At Actinver, we promote these events to keep our clients and special guests informed about national and international situations that are of particular interest. This way, they can make better investment decisions”.
At the end of the presentation, there was a question-and-answer session where attendees had the opportunity to interact with both Enrique Covarrubias and Godofredo Vidal Gutiérrez.
