Brian Campbell Makes History at the Mexico Open at VidantaWorld

In a thrilling conclusion to the fourth edition of this prestigious tournament, American golfer Brian Campbell claimed victory at the Mexico Open at VidantaWorld 2025 after an exciting playoff against South African Aldrich Potgieter. With this triumph, Campbell not only etched his name in the tournament’s history but also secured his first PGA TOUR title, solidifying an outstanding professional career.
AN ELECTRIFYING FINISH
The VidantaWorld course was alive with excitement as Campbell and Potgieter arrived at the final hole tied at an impressive 20-under par, edging out American Isaiah Salinda by one stroke, who finished at 19-under par after a spectacular 6-under-par 65 round. The tie between the two finalists led to a dramatic playoff that was decided on the second extra hole, where Campbell, after a challenging tee shot that nearly took him out of contention, recovered masterfully and sealed his victory with an unforgettable birdie.
“I still can’t believe that bounce—it luckily put me back in a good position, and from there, I had chances that I knew how to take advantage of. Being in this position is incredible; I want to thank my family, my team, and everyone around me,” said an emotional Campbell after receiving the trophy from Benjamín Salinas Sada, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors at Grupo Salinas.
A TOURNAMENT WITH STRONG LATIN AMERICAN PRESENCE
The Mexico Open at VidantaWorld 2025 reaffirmed its commitment to the development of golf in Latin America, featuring the participation of five Mexican golfers and seven Latin American players, showcasing the region’s growth and talent in this prestigious circuit. Santiago de la Fuente stood out as the best-performing Mexican player, while Justin Hastings received the award for the tournament’s best amateur.
In its efforts to strengthen golf in Mexico, Grupo Salinas and its ARA high-performance program granted exemptions to four young talents, allowing three of them to make their PGA TOUR debut. This commitment to the sport’s development clearly reflects their vision as a platform to propel the next generation of golfers.
