One of the most expected celebrations of Banderas Bay is the Bucerías patron saint festivities a tradition that has been celebrated for 60 years offering different artistic, cultural, gastronomical and sport activities taking place from January 16th to 24th of 2020.

As part of the festivities’ opening, on Thursday January 16th a traditional horse riding will take place, starting from Explanada Corona at 5:00pm, that will conclude to Bucerías’ main square, where the polinesyan dance school Keiki Hula will offer a show (8:30pm).

According to the organizers, during 9 days, residents and visitors will enjoy different cultural activities full of dance, live music and a diversity of traditional dishes.

One of the main attractions of this celebration is the closure, held on January 24th featuring a great Marine Parade in charge of local fishermen, who will take an Aquatic Torch from La Cruz de Huanacaxtle to Bucerías downtown’s beach, where in a religious ceremony, they will ask for a good year of fishing, health and prosperity.

This tradition started 60 years ago when fishermen, divers and vendors decided to do different activities to honor the Virgin of “Nuestra Señora de la Paz”, to whom they declared patron saint and protector of Bucerías.
