Chistorra Sausage with Roasted Nopal Cactus from Sonora House
“If you come with friends, Chistorra Sausage with Roasted Nopal Cactus is one of the ideal dishes to share. In addition, it is a small tasting to give a general idea of the flavor of the cuts roasted with mesquite charcoal.” —Raúl Ramírez, partner in Sonora House.
Sonora House (Av. Fluvial Vallarta 199, Fluvial Vallarta), the grill restaurant that specializes in offering cuts from Sonora, has an exquisite dish to whet your appetite: the Chistorra Sausage with Roasted Nopal Cactus, an ideal appetizer to share at the table, whether with family or friends.
To prepare it, the chistorra is placed on the mesquite charcoal grill until done. Then a couple of previously prepared nopal cactus leaves are roasted, and everything is served in a clay dish accompanied by cambray onions and roasted serrano chiles. It is suggested to accompany this specialty with a refreshing Mexican craft beer or a red wine, especially the Paradise, a cabernet sauvignon brought directly from Chile.
In addition to the extensive variety of juicy cuts, Sonora House offers other dishes prepared with fresh chicken and shrimp from the region, as well as the Canoas (a specialty served as a taco in which the handmade tortilla is replaced by cucumbers, leaves of lettuce and/or nopal cactus).
With a casual atmosphere, this establishment has the capacity to pamper up to 80 guests between the interior area with A/C and the outdoor terrace.
