10 of Mexico’s Cleanest Beaches are Located in Puerto Vallarta
Recently, the Comisión Federal para la Protección contra Riesgos Sanitarios (COFEPRIS) (Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks), conducted a sanitary study along the coasts of our country (comprising more than 6,835 miles) and confirmed that 263 beaches are suitable for swimming and fishing in Mexico, 10 of which are located in Puerto Vallarta.
This way, the cleanest beaches in Mexico that are in Puerto Vallarta and that proudly belong to this classification are:
· Camarones (which also obtained the Blue Flag international certificate and the “Playas Más Limpias”—Cleanest Beaches— certificate, meeting several sustainability requirements)
· Cuale
· Gemelas
· Las Ánimas
· Los Muertos
· Mismaloya
· Oasis
· Palmares
· Quimixto
· Yelapa
According to the Secretaría de Salud (Ministry of Health) criteria, in order to be considered as one of the cleanest beaches in Mexico, ocean water must have less than 200 units of enterococci bacteria per 100 milliliters of water.
These studies are published on the COFEPRIS website prior to each official vacation period in Mexico and are aimed at informing visitors and residents.
