Daylight Savings Goes Into Effect in Vallarta This Weekend

This coming Sunday at midnight will be the day to advance your watch one hour, as Daylight Savings summer hours go into effect throughout most of Mexico, and will continue until the last Sunday in October. It is important to note that the Daylight Savings switch in the US does not go into effect until March 13, something important to take into account when scheduling flights in or out of Vallarta during the week between Mexico and US Daylight Savings.
According to FIDE, Mexico’s Energy Savings Trust (Fideicomiso para el Ahorro de Energía), Daylight Savings last year resulted in a savings of 670 megawatts, roughly equivalent to $1,470 million pesos. In addition, the measure prevented 466,000 tons of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere.
