Shopping At: De Los Rios
One of the perks of exploring Puerto Vallarta’s lively Emiliano Zapata neighborhood by foot is the diverse variety of tiny shops you’ll discover as you saunter from street to street. As we were doing so, we came across De Los Ríos Home and Lifestyle, a small home furnishing store that opened just a few months ago.
It’s owner is David de los Ríos, a young architect from Aguascalientes who moved to Puerto Vallarta a year and a half ago. Initially, he worked as a project manager for an important architectural firm but chose to open his own shop. “As I looked around Puerto Vallarta, I noticed that there are excellent shops selling traditional Mexican furnishings. However, not that many shops offer accessories that reflect a more contemporary, modern Mexico. So, I chose to specialize in Mexican accessories, focusing on items that would fit in a modern environment.”
David’s shop is located on Venustiano Carranza street, one block away from Basilio Badillo, known for its many shops, restaurants and galleries. “We are no match for Basilio Badillo,” he comments, “but we are happy to see an increase in commercial activity in our street, with new stores, restaurants and apartment buildings.” He is presently working closely with other business owners in his block to gain momentum and add to the neighborhood’s overall appeal.
De Los Ríos Home and Lifestyle is located at Venustiano Carranza St., between Constitución and Insurgentes. To acquaint you with his products, we’ve put together a short video. Enjoy!
