El Huayan: Sculptures in El Estero

From September 26th to December 15th, 2020, artist César Girón will present the artistic project “El Huayan”, a series of ephemeral sculptures to turn the eyes towards the importance of the Estero El Salado Protected Natural Area ecosystem.
This exhibition will consist of three sculptural events developed within the Estero El Salado, but that will be possible to see from the city: The first is a series of inflatable tourist materials that will float in the estuary channel. The second stage of this project, called “Higueras”, will present trees of this species covered with blue Venetian mosaic. The third, called “Flotantes”, will be a sculpture that will include concrete, bird feathers, branches and sand-castle molds.
This work will be supervised by the management of the Protected Natural Area, so the sculptures and their creation process will not affect the ecological balance of the El Estero El Salado.
César Girón is a young visual artist graduated from the Bachelor of Visual Arts for Photographic Expression from the Centro Universitario de Arte, Arquitectura y Diseño of the University of Guadalajara. He is currently the manager of exhibitions and projects of the Oficina de Proyectos Culturales in Puerto Vallarta. His work has been exhibited in different cities of Mexico and Australia, where he studied Visual Arts at the Victorian College of the Arts at the University of Melbourne.
