Finau Wins 2023 Mexico Open at Vidanta
The second edition of the Mexico Open at Vidanta, one of the most important golf tournaments on the PGA Tour, ended this weekend in Riviera Nayarit.
On Sunday, Utah native Tony Finau carded a 5-under 66 to win the Mexico Open at Vidanta.
Finau posted five birdies and finished at 24-under 260. Finau took a three-shot victory over Spanish’s Jon Rahm, number one in the world ranking.
“Rahm is the very best in the world. I knew I was going to have my hands full to the end,” said Finau.
This way, Finau now has two victories this season—his other was in the Houston Open last fall—to join Rahm, Scottie Scheffler and Max Homa as the only multiple winners on tour this season.
On the other hand, the best Latin American during the Mexico Open at Vidanta was the Argentine Emiliano Grillo, who had a fourth round of 65 strokes to get the fifth place.
The Mexico Open at Vidanta, featuring 144 professional players competing for 7.7 million USD in prize money, was played from April 27 to 30, 2023 at the Vidanta Vallarta Golf Club.
