Puerto Vallarta’s Malecón, one of the most iconic spots in this beautiful city, is enriched by the presence of a unique sculpture that invites contemplation and inquiry: “In Search of Reason,” a masterpiece by the renowned Mexican artist Sergio Bustamante.

This work stands majestically on the Malecón since its inauguration on July 4th, 2000. The sculpture, crafted from bronze and towering at an impressive height of approximately 9 meters, features three figures representing pillow-like heads. Two of these heads are positioned atop a staircase, as if ascending in their quest for answers beyond the boundaries of humanity.

“In Search of Reason” is an artistic gem that piques the curiosity and introspection of those who gaze upon it. With its unconventional design and profound meaning, Sergio Bustamante’s artwork has become a symbol of the everlasting thirst for knowledge and wisdom.
