Las Varas – La Cruz de Huanacaxtle Road is Now Open
Recently, the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT) opened the route La Florida Junction – La Cruz de Huanacaxtle Junction (30.8 kilometers), of the new Las Varas – Puerto Vallarta Highway, which will save 40 minutes on its route. An investment of 4.9 billion pesos was made in benefit of nine communities.
Two sections of this highway (54.4 kilometers) are now in operation. In addition, a third section is under construction. The total investment in the project (86.5 kilometers) will be 10.6 billion pesos and it will benefit 17 communities.
Once the work is completed, the highway will have 45 bridges, seven junctions, three tunnels and three viaducts, where more than 6,000 vehicles could be able to travel in a daily basis.
The highway will have multiple advantages for travelers, as it will allow access to different micro-destinations in the Riviera Nayarit corridor. The road will offer direct access to the Puerto Vallarta International Airport and will also strengthen connectivity with El Bajío area and Tepic, Nayarit.
A third section (32.2 kilometers) is currently under construction, which will reduce travel time by 25 minutes and it will connect the San Vicente Junction with Puerto Vallarta.
Going from Bahía de Banderas to Compostela will cost 323 MXN per car.
