Meet Vallarta Pride 2017 guest of honor!
Vallarta Pride has recently announced the guest of honor for its 2017 edition that starts this weekend in Puerto Vallarta. He is the internationally renowned, Venezuelan visual artist Daniel Arzola, who has made a name for himself as a human rights activist through his artwork.
Daniel created the term “artivism” (the use of art as a tool for social change). In 2013, he launched the campaign “I’m Not a Joke”, comprised by a series of five illustrations that suggests that systematic jokes are a sort of violence and that has been translated to more than 20 languages. This was the first Venezuelan campaign to reach the five continents and its slogan was “We are all different but we have the right to be treated equally”.
Daniel’s images have reached international media outlets and they’ve been acknowledged by famous artists such as Madonna and Katy Perry.
Daniel’s visit to Puerto Vallarta is part of his international tour and he will be attending several events over the course of the Vallarta Pride festival.
