Mexico is the world’s eighth most popular tourism destination
The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has recently revealed its annual ranking with the world’s most popular tourist destinations. This year, México climbed from ninth to eighth place with the reception of 35 million international tourists.
The top ten was featured by France (86 million tourists), United States (to determine figures), Spain (75.6 million), China (59.3 million), Italy (52.5 million), United Kingdom (35.8 million), Germany (35.6 million), Mexico (35 million), Thailand (32.6 million) and Turkey ((to determine figures).
Enrique Peña Nieto, president of Mexico, pointed out on his Twitter account that the country has also climbed positions in the Income by Tourist Activities ranking, going from 16 to 14 place.
“These numbers consolidate Mexico as a tourist global power. Congratulations to all those who work in this sector and have made this possible”.
