A new whale sculpture by Octavio González was recently installed in Marina Vallarta, at the end of Popa St., across from Nima Bay. In addition, new lighting fixtures were installed along the boardwalk to enhance this popular neighborhood at night. The artist is also well known for the iconic whale sculpture located at the entrance entrance of Marina Vallarta, along Fco. Medina Ascencio Ave.

s-marina-vallarta-whale-2Puerto Vallarta’s Mayor, Arturo Dávalos, was present at the inauguration along with other dignataries, including Enrique Camargo, president of the Marina Vallarta Residents Association. “With this second whale sculpture we intend to move forward until we have the world’s largest bronce whale sculpture collection in the world, with more of them installed along Paseo de la Marina, from Tres Mares Condominiums to Bay View Grand,” he announced.

Marina Vallarta, in Puerto Vallarta, was developed in the late 1980s and at the time was one of  the first mega developments in Mexico. Today, it’s a pleasant residential neighborhood with spectacular oceanfront hotels, such as the CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa, and The Westin Resort & Spa Puerto Vallarta. Strolling along its wide malecón or boardwalk is a treat, day or night, with a myriad restaurants available to relax and take in the view. It takes approximately 15 to complete a leisurely stroll from one and of the boardwalk to the other. To give you a taste, we’ve walked it for you, and condensed the activity into a one-minute video. Enjoy!
