One Day Painting Workshops Announced
Local artist Kathleen Carrillo welcomes beginner, intermediate and advanced students to participate in any of her one-day painting workshops that take place at her Emiliano Zapata studio. The artist encourages participants to finish a landscape, tropical flower or foodie painting in one session.
Originally from California, internationally acclaimed Kathleen Carrillo resides in the jungle just outside of Puerto Vallarta, where she runs an art retreat center and studio with her husband, writer Andrew Marcus. She has a master´s degree in fine art and has devoted the last two decades to painting, receiving numerous international accolades. To make her colorful depictions of Mexico more accessible to the public, she has a gallery on Constitución St., where visitors can browse her diverse paint collections, including “Smok´in Jazz,” and “Architectural Whimsy,” among others, along with personally signed, limited edition giclée prints.
Carrillo is a professional artist, a certified soul coach, a university professor of fine art, a professional business woman, and an advocate for the empowerment of women. In addition, Carrillo hosts longer retreats and workshops at her B&B and retreat center in Paso Ancho, just outside Puerto Vallarta, on an ongoing basis. The location—rural Mexico, surrounded by nature and the sounds of birds and a nearby river—is ideal for those interested in an immersive experience that includes painting time, excursions to nearby villages, yoga retreats and much more.
