The Puerto Vallarta Zoo (Zoológico de Vallarta, A.C.) is located in the community of Mismaloya on the South Shore. It was inaugurated in 2006 and features 1,500 mammal, bird and reptile inhabitants from 120 different species. Walking along its pathways provides a unique experience, particularly for those interested in local ecotourism and biodiversity, or just want to spend a family day in close contact with nature.

Given that the popular Puerto Vallarta attraction is celebrating its tenth anniversary, we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to visit and photograph some of their most impressive inhabitants.

There’s a line of busses heading to Mismaloya that departs from the intersection of Basilio Badillo and Insurgentes streets, in colonia Emiliano Zapata. The route has a stop right at the entrance of Barceló Hotel. Walk along the side road bordering the river and reach the Vallarta Zoo (which is located approximately 800 meters away).
