Playa de Oro Awarded Blue Flag Certification
Puerto Vallarta has become the Mexican beach destination with more Blue Flags certifications this past monday, August 1st, as Playa de Oro (located in the Hotel Zone) became the third beach awarded in the city.
Puerto Vallarta Mayor, Arturo Dávalos Peña was present to receive the award from Blue Flag national coordinator, Joaquín Arturo Díaz Ríos. At the event, Palmares Beach and Camarones Beach—awarded in 2014 and 2015 respectively—also received a re-certification by the organization.
Blue Flag is an international eco-label program operated under the auspices of the Foundation for Environmental Education with headquarters in Copenhagen, which recognises beaches and marinas around the world that have achieve excellence in water quality, environmental education, safety and services. “Beach certification involves combined efforts by the government, hotel owners and merchants, as well as beach activities abiding by international standards, including water monitoring and waste management, in order to provide both visitors and residents with safety and peace of mind,” mentioned Arturo Dávalos Peña.
Playa de Oro is located in Puerto Vallarta’s Hotel Zone, near the Maritime Terminal. Palmares Beach is approximately 20 minutes away from El Centro neighborhood by driving along Carr. 200 towards the South Shore, and Camarones Beach is located in the Las Glorias neighborhood, near Secrets Hotel.
