Presenting the 68th International Fishing Tournament in Puerto Vallarta
From November 13th to 16th, 2024, Puerto Vallarta will host the 68th International Fishing Tournament, an event that not only brings together world-class competitors, but also highlights the essence of this destination in the world of water sports.
The prestigious Puerto Vallarta International Fishing Tournament is one of the longest-running and most prominent events in the region, attracting enthusiasts and professionals from the United States, Canada and various states in Mexico.
Once again, the Puerto Vallarta Sportfishing Club has decided to exclude the Sailfish category in order to contribute to the recovery of the species, following an initiative that has been adopted by several other tournaments. Rodolfo Bárcenas, president of the club, emphasised that the tournament’s prize pool amounts to 1.5 million pesos, with incentives that increase both the competitive spirit and the camaraderie among the participants.
The competition is expected to attract 40 teams of four, with the aim of surpassing the 35 boats registered last year. Prizes for first place in the main categories include 500,000 MXN for Marlin and 100,000 MXN for Tuna. Winners in the Dorado (Mahi-Mahi) category will take home top-of-the-range fishing equipment, a feature that will excite competitors of all levels.
Registration is scheduled for Wednesday, November 13th at the Puerto Vallarta Sportfishing Club (Hamburgo 145, Versalles).
The tournament starts on Thursday, November 14th at 7:00am in front of the Hotel Rosita. On the following days, the departure from Marina Vallarta is at midnight, with the end of each day’s fishing and the weighing of the catches at 6:00pm on the boardwalk of the marina.
The awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 16th at 7:00pm, and will be a festive evening to celebrate the teams’ achievements.
