Organizers have announced the first edition of the Down Puerto Vallarta 2017, a urban bicycle competition that will take place in Downtown Puerto Vallarta on April 30th. For the race, participating, professional cyclists will have to ride their bicycles downhill through a panoramic, 900-meter track going from the La Cruz viewpoint to the Malecon.

During the event’s press conference, Agustin Valdivia, director of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board, highlighted that this is the first event of its kind in the city and is expected to attract thousands of people. It will bring together more than 40 competitors who will amaze attendees with their high speeds and impressive bicycle tricks.

“Extreme sports such as downhill mountain biking attract many people in other Mexican destinations such as Taxco, Guerrero. Puerto Vallarta has the perfect scenery for this activity as it features mountains and views towards the ocean”, Valdivia said.

The competition will feature three categories: Downhill, Slopestyle and Freestyle. Participants can apply to any of them depending on the type of riding they do.

Media coverage by renowned sports media outlets such as Fox Sports and ESPN has been confirmed, so Puerto Vallarta will have international exposure—specially in the United States and Canada.

Down Puerto Vallarta 2017 will be open to the public. For more information about the event, please visit their official Facebook Page.

“We have been clients of Vallarta Lifestyles since 1999, the year in which we arrived to this destination. Back then, it was the only publication where you could really do local marketing. These days, in spite of the arrival of new technologies, we keep advertising, because it is a really important complement for our marketing strategy.”

"Vallarta Lifestyles is very similar to The Agency, we have a similar client base, [residents and tourists] who seek for information about the topics that are featured in each issue; lifestyle, restaurants, and architecture, among others. And, because the way your magazines are located, we can really capture the clients we want."
