Purr Project Launches Fundraising Campaign
If you’re one of the hundreds of people who have visited the Purr Project shelter in Puerto Vallarta, chances are you’ve been introduced to some of their ‘senior citizens’—their older cat population. Some arrived at the shelter as feral cats, unadoptable for one reason or another, or simply because they have failed to find a permanent home. This has resulted in an aging population with very special needs.
As such, the Purr Project, a no-kill feline rescue shelter, has identified the urgent need to construct a new building specifically for older and special needs cats, which will allow them to live their lives in a safe, stress-free environment. The covered structure will be designed to provide shelter from the region’s unrelenting summer heat and torrential rains. It will also allow their medical staff to better supervise their ongoing care without having to cage them in the clinic.
The new structure will be named ‘Simona’s Senior Center’ in honor of one of their oldest and most popular cats at the ranch—Simona was born with crossed-eyes and bowed forelegs which require daily medication, but neither affliction has slowed her down one bit.
