PV International Airport: On Track for a Record Year
With figures that stand out nationally, Puerto Vallarta International Airport is set to close 2024 with historic records for passenger traffic and operations. In October, the terminal recorded 5.52 million passengers, far exceeding expectations and solidifying its position as one of the most dynamic gateways to Mexico’s Pacific coast.
Unprecedented Growth
From January to October 2024, the airport recorded 2.35 million domestic passengers and 3.17 million international passengers, with a significant increase in foreign traffic. With an average annual growth rate of 13 percent in recent years, the terminal is expected to reach at least 6.9 million passengers by the end of this year, surpassing the 6.7 million passengers recorded in 2023.
The airport’s performance was also underpinned by a remarkable seat load factor, which reached 86.5 percent in October 2024, compared to 82 percent in the same period last year.
Route Expansion and International Connectivity
New strategic routes were added this year, including flights from Prague, Czech Republic, and Victoria, Canada, with an additional 4,440 seats. Looking ahead to 2025, the outlook is even more promising with seasonal flights from cities such as Sacramento and New York, bringing the total number of winter routes to 57, up from 54 last year.
State-of-the-Art Infrastructure
The Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico, which operates Puerto Vallarta International Airport, has invested 1.944 billion pesos in significant upgrades. These include expanded commercial platforms, automated immigration filters and a new LEED Gold certified sustainable terminal that will double the operational space by 2026.
A Premier International Destination
The steady growth of Puerto Vallarta International Airport reflects the destination’s consolidation as a major tourist and business hub on Mexico’s Pacific coast. With a robust flight network, state-of-the-art infrastructure and an ever-evolving environment, the terminal is poised to break records and attract travelers from around the world.
