PV Returns to the Top 5 Safest Cities in Mexico
According to the 44th National Urban Public Safety Survey (ENSU) by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) for the third quarter of 2024, Puerto Vallarta has returned to the Top 5 safest cities in Mexico, ranking fifth.
This improvement is noteworthy, as in the last quarter of 2023, Puerto Vallarta reached the second position in safety perception. Although it briefly fell out of the Top 5 in the previous quarter, it has now regained its place among the cities with the highest safety perception.
This achievement is the result of the coordinated efforts between state, federal, and municipal governments, who have worked together to ensure the safety and peace of mind of both residents and visitors.
The Top 10 cities with the highest perception of safety in Mexico are as follows:
- San Pedro Garza García, Nuevo León – 13.7
- Benito Juárez, CDMX – 17.5
- Tampico, Tamaulipas – 20
- Piedras Negras, Coahuila – 20.2
- Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco – 21.3
- Saltillo, Coahuila – 21.7
- Los Cabos, BCS – 22.9
- Los Mochis, Sinaloa – 23.5
- Tepic, Nayarit – 23.7
- Mérida, Yucatán – 24.6
It is important to note that this ranking represents an encouraging indicator for the community, significantly enhancing the quality of life for residents and reinforcing Puerto Vallarta’s appeal as a safe tourist destination.
The ENSU is conducted quarterly, and for this edition, over 27,000 households in 91 urban areas participated in the study.
