PV Shines Among Top Winter Destinations for American Travelers
In a recent study conducted by Allianz Partners, a leading travel insurance specialist, Puerto Vallarta has secured its place among the top 10 winter destinations preferred by American travelers. The study, which scrutinized over 3.1 million travel plans, has uncovered a notable surge in the inclination of US holidaymakers towards international travel this winter season.
The annual survey, focusing on round-trip flights from US airports between December 16 and 29, has shed light on a remarkable shift in travel patterns. International trips have now surged to account for 21 percent of bookings, almost doubling from the 11 percent recorded in the previous year.
What makes Puerto Vallarta stand out is its exceptional connectivity. With over 40 direct air routes operating to and from the city’s airport, the destination has become easily accessible for North American travelers. This robust connectivity has significantly contributed to the upswing in international passenger traffic.
According to data from Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP) for the month of November 2023, the Puerto Vallarta International Airport welcomed 371,400 international passengers, marking an impressive 8.6 percent increase compared to the same month the previous year. From January to November of the current year, the airport recorded a total of 3,460,200 air passengers, indicating a substantial 10.4 percent growth compared to the same period in the preceding year.
Luis Villaseñor, general director of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust, expressed his enthusiasm about Puerto Vallarta’s growing popularity, stating: “Puerto Vallarta consolidates itself this winter as one of the favorite destinations for American travelers in search of exceptional experiences. Our city offers not only a warm winter climate but also a wide range of activities and internationally recognized gastronomy.”
