Rain Under the Rain: An Encounter on the Malecón of Puerto Vallarta
On the Malecón of Puerto Vallarta, at the level of Galeana Street, stands the sculpture Lluvia (Rain). Created by Jovian, a talented Mexican sculptor, this work captures the essence of the rainy season in this paradise destination. With his arms outstretched and his face raised to the sky, Rain invites visitors to contemplate the beauty and power of nature.
With an imposing height of three and a half meters and a weight of 650 kilograms, this sculpture is not only an artistic feat, but also a symbol of the connection between man and the elements. Donated by Galería Corsica to the Vallarta Institute of Culture in November 2020, Rain has become an iconic piece of the Malecón, joining the 34 works that adorn this coastal walk from 31 de Octubre Street to Playa Pilitas.
The value of Rain lies in the unique experience it offers to those who view it, especially during the rainy season. Imagine walking under a cloudy sky, with raindrops falling gently, and encountering this sculpture that seems to embrace the rain itself. It is a moment to celebrate art and nature in perfect harmony.
Jovian, who has lived in Puerto Vallarta for 21 years, has taken his work to prestigious museums and galleries around the world, from Mexico to France, through the United States, Hong Kong and Singapore.
