Riviera Nayarit Announces June Events
The Riviera Nayarit Convention & Visitors Bureau has recently announced the list of events taking place in June at the destination also known as Mexico’s Pacific Treasure. Music, tradition and sports are some of the attractions for this coming month.
Navy Day (June 1)
A grand military parade will take over the historic Puerto de San Blas, Rincón de Guayabitos and La Cruz de Huanacaxtle—destinations located north of Puerto Vallarta—by land and sea, in order to commemorate the launching of the first 100% Mexican crewed ship, the Tabasco, on June 1st 1917, from the Port of Veracruz. This tradition has been celebrated in Mexico since 1942 and it also represents a tribute to the armed forces that protect and serve the nation.
56th Annual San Blas International Sport Fishing Tournament (June 1-5)
One of the most eagerly-anticipated events in Riviera Nayarit, the San Blas International Sport Fishing Tournament, celebrates its 55th year of adrenaline-pumping moments for deep-sea fishing aficionados. This year’s top prizes include a pickup truck and eight 2016 vehicles. For more information and registration, please visit http://www.clubdepescadeportivatepic.com
San Blas is a historic fishing town located approximately three hours north of Puerto Vallarta along Carr. 200. It features many ecotourism activities, including the La Tovara sanctuary, and historic sites.
Guayabitos Motofiesta (June 3-5)
This outdoor celebration was born of the desire to give motorcycle enthusiasts a place where they can show off their spectacular engines to the general public and enjoy time together. A main stage is installed in a parcel of land close to the beach where attendees are able to enjoy performances by different bands and sample the local gastronomy. The event is open to the public.

Guayabitos is one of the most visited destinations of the Riviera Nayarit. It is located 70 minutes north from Puerto Vallarta by car and public transportation is also available at the Puerto Vallarta Bus Station.
VW Riviera Fest (June 19)
La Cruz de Huanacaxtle is another magnet for classic and modified Volkswagen Beetles or VeeDubs. Over 150 vehicles will be displayed at the Marina Riviera Nayarit during this family event. VW Riviera Fest usually features a inaugural convoy departing from Nuevo Vallarta to La Cruz, an unique event for people of all ages.

Batalla de Santos in Mexcaltitán (June 29)
This patron saint feast commemorating saints Peter and Paul includes one of the most iconic traditional ceremonies in the Mexcaltitán Island, a town located in the municipality of Santiago Ixcuintla, Nayarit, and considered the birthplace of Mexican heritage. It is a pilgrimage that emulates the journey of the Mexicas, or Aztecs, who left Aztlán—the legendary ancestral home of the Aztec peoples—to establish the great city of Tenochtitlán in 1325.
From Puerto Vallarta you can reach Mexcaltitán by driving along Carr. 200 to Tepic—capital city of the state of Nayarit—and once in the city, drive north along Carr. 15D. Santiago Ixcuintla is approximately one hour away.
