The 2024 J/70 North American Championship at Vallarta Yacht Club in Nuevo Vallarta delivered four days of exhilarating sailing and intense competition. With ideal conditions gracing the event, 26 teams battled it out over 11 races, showcasing their skills and determination on the waters of Banderas Bay.

Fernando Perez Ontiveros’ Black Mamba, hailing from the host club, set the tone early, clinching victory in the first race and maintaining a formidable lead throughout the championship. With a stellar performance that saw them consistently finish in the top six, this team secured the title with a total of 28 points, a testament to their skill and teamwork.

However, the competition was fierce, with teams like David Jannetti’s Very Odd (Enigma) of the USA and Eduardo Saenz’s Nimbus from Mexico keeping the pressure on. Very Odd claimed the runner-up position with 40 net points, while Nimbus secured the bronze spot with 53 points, highlighting the international flair of the event.

In the Corinthian division, Eduardo Oetling’s Axolotl emerged triumphant, showcasing the talent in this category. Second place went to Marco Sparvieri’s Buenajunta, while Alan Elihu Baron’s Nawal took third place.

Ricardo Brockmann’s Vincitore and Martina Silva’s Mercenario 6 claimed victory in the One Pro and Mixed+ divisions respectively, adding to the diversity of winners at the championship.

The success of the championship wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of PRO Chip Till, as well as Linda Green, regatta chair, and the countless volunteers who ensured smooth sailing throughout.

This edition of the J/70 North American Championship leaves behind a legacy of excellence and camaraderie in Riviera Nayarit.

“Vallarta Lifestyles has readers from Punta de Mita to Mismaloya and beyond, so announcing my business, means the positioning and recognition of my agency throughout the region. The contents of the magazine are very interesting, because they provide relevant information about activities in the destination. I am pleased to see it at hotels, restaurants and galleries, but what excites me the most is to see people with their issue in hand. That is really relevant for us.”

“One of the biggest benefits of advertising in Vallarta Lifestyles is that a lot of readers keep it as a bible. People have arrived to our gallery looking for the pieces that are in the advertisements published 5 or 6 years ago, and that’s really valuable for us. Besides being an excellent magazine where is possible to find the newest in the destination, it is a publication dedicated to the public we want to reach and keep.”

“Since its beginnings and until today, the quality in photography and editorial design of Vallarta Lifestyles is unrivaled, because there’s nothing similar in this region of Mexico. Besides, to the foreign community that visit us, this magazine is essential if they want to know what’s new and what’s going on in our destination.”
