SUP & Paddleboard National Selection Tournament Takes Place In Sayulita
The Stand Up Paddle (SUP) & Paddleboard National Selection Tournament will take place in Sayulita from May 6-8, gathering thirty surfers and paddlers from Mexican coastal states such as Oaxaca, Guerrero, Jalisco, Nayarit, Baja California and Colima.
The invitation to participate in the tournament was sent out by the Mexican Federation of Surf to both men and women. Only fifteen of the participants will qualify for the Mexican National SUP & Paddleboard Team. The competitions will take place in the beautiful beaches of Sayulita from Friday to Sunday, 9 am to 2 pm, approximately.
“We have the best SUP & Paddleboard athletes, we have the best place to practice these sports and we’ve proven to the world that we’re ready to receive the top events,” stated Marc Murphy, Director of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB). “We wish them all the best of luck and hope that an increasing number of qualifying athletes are from, and live in the Riviera Nayarit.”
The local forecast for this upcoming weekend couldn’t be better for this activity, as it includes excellent wave action on the Pacific Ocean and mostly sunny days.
Sayulita is a picturesque town located 45 minutes away from Puerto Vallarta by car, driving north along Carr. 200. It is also considered to be the surf capital of Riviera Nayarit due its bohemian atmosphere, long beaches and ample waves. Public transportation to Sayulita is available departing from Walmart, located in front of the Maritime Terminal in Puerto Vallarta.
