Sushi Pop: A Fresh and Appealing Concept

Sushi restaurants have flourished in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit in recent years due to the preference of local diners. Even though you may think that it’s all tried and seen within this type of cuisine, the arrival of SushiPop shows exactly the opposite. The restaurant features a varied menu with recipes that include unusual and very interesting ingredients. The Vallarta Lifestyles editorial team had the chance to taste the exquisite flavors of the establishment’s dishes during a visit aimed at getting to know its offer.

SushiPop is a restaurant chain that has branches in Mexico City, Mérida and Puerto Vallarta. The latter is located at Plaza Península. The menu features more than 40 types of rolls, appetizers such us batter-fried crab legs, flamed butter clams; main courses such as lobster teppanyaki and sashimi, as well as delicious desserts such as the Chocolate Bomb and the Tempura Ice Cream.

During our visit, we enjoyed the Tempura Broccoli, an appetizer that is flamed and features spicy mayonnaise, sheets of tuna, jalapeño jelly and cilantro. For the main dish, we tasted the Mauricio Roll, which is stuffed with spicy tuna and cilantro, and topped with Tempura-style shrimp, chile serrano, chipotle and Japanese citrus. To pair these delicacies, we ordered Sake Pop, a cocktail made up of sake (traditional Japanese drink obtained through rice fermentation), Sprite, syrup and red fruits.

Without a doubt, Sushi Pop is one of the new additions to the Puerto Vallarta’s culinary scene that you simply cannot miss. At the venue, Marco Hernández (owner), David Eliodoro (chef) and Jonás Romero (waiter captain) will give you a warm welcome and provide you with a very pleasant experience.
