Tenth International Sport Fishing Tournament Announced
The Tenth International Bahía de Banderas Marlin and Tuna Sport Fishing Tournament will take place July 14-16, 2016, hosted by the Paradise Village hotel in Nuevo Vallarta. “The event has grown year after year: it used to be only a one-day event and this year it’s two full days, thanks to the huge demand it’s had,” said David Zaragoza, President of the Bahía de Banderas Fishing Club. “The Riviera Nayarit CVB is supporting us with the entire promotional campaign and it’s thanks to their help in the past few years that the tournament has grown so much.”
The maritime infrastructure, the secure conditions in the bay area and the excellent shoal that is constantly available for those who are truly into sport fishing are big attractions for the participants. There are recorded captures of Marlin weighing over 300 kilos, which places Riviera Nayarit next to the top sport fishing destinations in the world.
“All fishermen are invited to participate and come enjoy this fishing festival,” recommended David Zargoza. “There is excellent fishing equipment for rent and well-seasoned crew members available; those who don’t have a boat can come here and find plenty of good options.”
This year they expect between 35 and 40 participating boats. The registration cost per team is $12,000 MX and there can be up to four people per boat. Aside from marlin and tuna, there’s also a category for dorado.
Registration opens on July 14, 2016 from 5 – 9 pm at the host hotel’s yacht club. The first day of fishing begins once the event is officially inaugurated on July 15. On that day, the reception and the weighing and measuring of catches will take place 1 – 6 pm.
July 16 will be very similar, except for the award and closing ceremonies, which will take place a little after 6 pm
