The modernization of Puerto Vallarta International Airport continues with the construction of its Terminal 2 reaching 40% completion. This expansion will allow for serving more than eight million passengers annually, strengthening the connectivity and infrastructure of one of Mexico’s most successful tourist destinations.

Recently, authorities from the Pacific Airport Group (GAP) toured its facilities, supervising the progress of the project that will transform this airport into a benchmark for innovation and sustainability. Terminal 2 will cover more than 89,000 square meters, with the capacity to handle both domestic and international flights.

The expansion project is part of a historic investment allocated to Jalisco’s airports, within GAP’s 2025-2029 Master Development Plan (MDP). In total, 26 billion pesos will be allocated to improve the state’s air infrastructure, also including the expansion of Guadalajara International Airport.

Puerto Vallarta will continue its growth with this renovation. The expansion will not only strengthen its connectivity with North America but will also seek to open new routes to South America and Europe, boosting international tourism.

One of the highlights of Terminal 2 is its focus on sustainability. The project will have LEED Gold certification, ensuring energy and resource-efficient construction. In addition, innovative technologies are being incorporated to optimize the documentation process and improve the traveler experience.

With the incorporation of 23,000 tons of steel, the structure is designed to offer safety and efficiency. Terminal 2 of Puerto Vallarta International Airport is expected to be ready by the end of 2026.
