If you’ve attended the Old Town Farmer’s Market sometime this year, you probably noticed a stand featuring one-of-a-kind souvenirs made out from wood pieces. These are created by the local architect and designer Liz Montejano, who developed an attractive line of utilitarian and decorative objects based on the elements of the surf culture, nature and the indigenous heritage of Mexico. She named her collection Wiki Arte Utilitario.

The objects include key holders, coat racks, magnets, cup holders and other accessories. These are completely handmade and their creation process includes carpentry works, hand painted and airbrushing techniques, as well as resin and nitrocellulose finishes.

Montejano’s most famous products are the surfboard shaped key holders and coat racks that feature pre-Hispanic tales and stories.

I feel passionate about all the symbols from our ancestors. Each piece I create tells a story that can be deciphered through the composition, colors and design elements.

Next time you stroll around colonia Emiliano Zapata on Saturday, don’t miss the opportunity to take a look at this stall. You may find that perfect souvenir for your relatives!

A wide variety of key holder designs is available at the Wiki Arte stand in the Farmer’s Market that take place every Saturday morning at Plaza Lázaro Cárdenas.

The humpback whale—which is iconic in Banderas Bay—is also featured in Wiki Arte’s decorative items.

“We have been advertising in Vallarta Lifestyles since the opening of our restaurant, and since then, we have kept a strong relationship. Due to its scope and distribution, the campaigns that we advertised regarding our different culinary projects have always been a success. This magazine has been consolidated as a benchmark that promotes the beauty of our destination in a creative and effective way.”

“Vallarta Lifestyles was the first reliable magazine that emerged in our destination. In fact, up to date is the only publication that we have in Puerto Vallarta that you can be proud of, because if you give it to someone, you know that person will enjoy watching the photos and reading the articles in each of its pages. I consider, that it is the only magazine that prevails in Vallarta · Nayarit as an icon of this genre”.
