Visitors Prefer Puerto Vallarta as a Safe Destination
In an interview for the national newspaper El Universal, Agustín Álvarez, Director of Puerto Vallarta’s Tourism Board, stated that Puerto Vallarta has become fashionable and increasingly preferred among visitors due insecurity issues affecting other destinations in Mexico.
“The decline of other tourism destinations such as Acapulco has made people turn to Puerto Vallarta for security, connectivity and price-quality factor,” he commented.
The head of one of the primary tourism organizations in the city also pointed out Puerto Vallarta is the second major beach destination in Mexico, just behind Cancún and topping Los Cabos. Furthermore, Álvarez emphasized that the tourism business in the region has a great potential, as it grew nearby 200% in recent years.
The exchange rate depreciation is another factor affecting Puerto Vallarta favorably, as its main market is the American and Canadian tourism.
This statement comes after the President of Mexico, Enrique Peña Nieto, announced the new tourism program Viajemos Todos por México (Let’s all travel around Mexico), whose main objective is to increase the number of visitors throughout Mexico, including our city.
