Along Puerto Vallarta’s Malecón you will find some of the most iconic and photographed bronze sculptures in Mexico. These works not only enhance the landscape, but are part of the history and spirit of this city.

However, three sculptures in particular stand out for their popularity among visitors, becoming must-stops for capturing the perfect memory.

The Boy on the Seahorse

The Boy on the Seahorse, also known as The Seahorse, is perhaps the most emblematic of all. Created in 1976 by artist Rafael Zamarripa, this sculpture depicts a child riding a seahorse, symbolizing Puerto Vallarta’s deep connection to the sea. Located in a prominent spot on the Malecón, this icon has become a symbol of the city and a point of reference for visitors.

The Rotunda by the Sea

Another fascinating piece for visitors is The Rotunda by the Sea by artist Alejandro Colunga. This series of surreal sculptures features strange and intriguing figures that seem to emerge from the ocean. Their thrones and sea creatures invite visitors to sit and interact with them, making them a unique backdrop for photographs. It is a space where art and fantasy meet and the imagination soars.

Nostalgia

Finally, Nostalgia by artist Ramiz Barquet is one of the most romantic sculptures on the Malecón. This piece depicts a couple sitting on a bench, embracing as they gaze out at the ocean. It is a symbol of love and emotional connection, making it a special spot for couples looking to immortalize their visit with a memorable photo.

These three sculptures are more than just works of art; they are an integral part of the charm of Puerto Vallarta.

“Vallarta Lifestyles has readers from Punta de Mita to Mismaloya and beyond, so announcing my business, means the positioning and recognition of my agency throughout the region. The contents of the magazine are very interesting, because they provide relevant information about activities in the destination. I am pleased to see it at hotels, restaurants and galleries, but what excites me the most is to see people with their issue in hand. That is really relevant for us.”
