In the heart of Banderas Bay, where the azure waters of the Mexican Pacific meet the vibrant spirit of Puerto Vallarta, anglers from around the world will unite for the 67th Puerto Vallarta International Sport Fishing Tournament. This prestigious event, formerly known as the Puerto Vallarta Torneo Internacional de Pez Vela y Marlin, will return from November 8th to 11th, 2023, promising three days of exhilarating competition.

This year’s tournament marks a significant shift as the organizers have decided to exclude the sailfish category. This decision is a part of the ongoing commitment to marine conservation and the efforts to support the recovery of this magnificent species. This way, participants will now exclusively focus on marlin and tuna, fostering a more responsible and sustainable angling environment.

Last year, the event drew 47 dedicated teams, and this year, it is anticipated that over 50 teams (comprising more than 200 avid fishermen) will compete. Registration is currently open for teams of up to four fishermen per boat.

Participants will embark on three thrilling days of competitive fishing, striving to reel in the most substantial marlin, tuna, and dorado (mahi mahi) that comply with tournament regulations. The allure of this year’s competition extends beyond the thrill of the chase, as the total prize pool approaches a staggering one and a half million pesos. Winners can look forward to cash prizes, boats, high-quality fishing rods, and equipment.

The grand culmination of this memorable event will be the Awards Ceremony, taking place at 7:00pm on November 11th, next to the Marina del Rey condominiums along the Marina Vallarta boardwalk.

“We have been clients of Vallarta Lifestyles since 1999, the year in which we arrived to this destination. Back then, it was the only publication where you could really do local marketing. These days, in spite of the arrival of new technologies, we keep advertising, because it is a really important complement for our marketing strategy.”

“Vallarta Lifestyles has readers from Punta de Mita to Mismaloya and beyond, so announcing my business, means the positioning and recognition of my agency throughout the region. The contents of the magazine are very interesting, because they provide relevant information about activities in the destination. I am pleased to see it at hotels, restaurants and galleries, but what excites me the most is to see people with their issue in hand. That is really relevant for us.”

“One of the biggest benefits of advertising in Vallarta Lifestyles is that a lot of readers keep it as a bible. People have arrived to our gallery looking for the pieces that are in the advertisements published 5 or 6 years ago, and that’s really valuable for us. Besides being an excellent magazine where is possible to find the newest in the destination, it is a publication dedicated to the public we want to reach and keep.”
