Abelardo Favela: Special Sale of his Works at Galería Contempo
During the October-December 2018 edition, the Vallarta Lifestyles editorial staff had the opportunity to interview the artist Abelardo Favela (1948 – 2019), whose paintings stand out for telling stories that bring joy and rejoicing to the spirit.
His work on canvas is pleasant and sunny, the colors projecting optimism and serenity. The landscapes he creates in an apparently simple way invite the viewer to decipher the small messages they contain, part of the charm of the paintings. Their happy everyday characters, friendly animals, leafy trees and infinite horizons of the sea (one of the recurrent elements) tell stories that bring joy to those who contemplate them.
“I do not paint for myself, but for the one who looks at them. I like that the characters produce a state of peacefulness and calm, attitudes that we all need to constantly revitalize these days,” said that interview.
In 2010, Rodolfo Choperena, owner of Galería Contempo, invited Favela to exhibit his paintings in our destination for the first time and, since then, this artistic space has become the official house for these artworks.
During this week some original Favela paintings were released, which were made between 2005 and 2015, while dividing his residence between Cuernavaca and Puerto Vallarta. The pieces are in perfect condition and are now on display at the gallery.
Abelardo Favela’s paintings are getting hard to come by since his passing, so this might be a good opportunity to purchase one that will be cherished for a long time.
