In the waters of Banderas Bay, a maritime spectacle is about to unfold. The majestic Amerigo Vespucci, an Italian navy training ship, is preparing to dock in Puerto Vallarta this June as part of the second leg of its around-the-world voyage that began in June 2023.

Beauty and Tradition
Built in 1931, the Amerigo Vespucci is more than just a beautiful vessel; it is a floating masterpiece. Named in honor of the famous Florentine navigator Amerigo Vespucci, this Italian navy training ship will sail across three oceans and dock in 28 countries during the epic 20-month journey.

Designed by naval architect Francesco Rotundi, its elegant silhouette stretches 101 meters in length, with a beam of 15.5 meters. Its three majestic masts, the tallest of which reaches 50 meters, support a network of 26 sails. Beyond its classic appearance, the ship also features diesel engines to ensure navigation under any conditions.

Education and Diplomacy
The Amerigo Vespucci is not only a symbol of beauty and tradition but also a training center for Italian officers, non-commissioned officers, and sailors. Its mission is to instruct future naval leaders.

This was announced by Alessandro Modiano, the Italian ambassador to Mexico, who recently visited Puerto Vallarta along with a diplomatic delegation that included Andrea Intermite, defense attaché, and Tommaso Coniglio, political counselor and deputy head of mission.

Royal Welcome
The Italian embassy, in coordination with the Mexican Navy Secretariat, is organizing activities to welcome the Amerigo Vespucci to Puerto Vallarta on Tuesday, June 18th, 2024. On that day and the following one, official ceremonies will take place with Mexican authorities from all levels of government, with the expected presence of high-ranking Italian officials.

On Thursday, June 20th, 2024, the Amerigo Vespucci will open its doors to the local community, dedicating the day to students from various schools. Additionally, there will be a scientific conference led by experts from the University of Guadalajara, along with a program of tourist activities for the ship’s crew.

On June 21st and 22nd, 2024, starting at 10:00am, the ship will be open to the public, offering guided tours for groups of up to 50 people. Ambassador Modiano emphasized that the primary goal is for people to get acquainted with this iconic vessel during its stay in Puerto Vallarta, which will conclude on Sunday, June 23rd, 2024, when it sets sail for its next destination.

With its rich history and elegance, the legendary Amerigo Vespucci is poised to grace the shores of Puerto Vallarta.

“We started to advertise in Vallarta Lifestyles because since its beginnings and to date it keeps using modern technological equipment to produce it and it is possible to notice that in the quality of the magazine, which offers interesting topics about the life of our destination through its articles and interviews to well known personalities. Actually, I keep a collection in my personal library.”

“One of the biggest benefits of advertising in Vallarta Lifestyles is that a lot of readers keep it as a bible. People have arrived to our gallery looking for the pieces that are in the advertisements published 5 or 6 years ago, and that’s really valuable for us. Besides being an excellent magazine where is possible to find the newest in the destination, it is a publication dedicated to the public we want to reach and keep.”

“We started to advertise 7 or 8 years ago and certainly it has helped us position our brand. Now that we have improved a lot in quality, processes and finished products, our marketing in the magazine is precisely to strengthen the leadership we have earned through the 13 years in the area. I also think that we also have grown with the advertisement and that it has been done and it has helped us get to where we are now.”
