April is around the corner and you can expect an interesting selection of events that will offer entertainment and fun to both visitors and locals.

Oyster Festival (April 3)

One of the most representative events of Bucerias, in Riviera Nayarit, is the Oyster Festival, which was conceived to celebrate local divers. The event features a Queen of the Festival pageant and gastronomy offerings, including three thousand oysters, 150 kg of fish, and over 200 kg of ceviche, resulting in a one-of-a-kind opportunity to experience local tradition.

This year’s edition will be held at El Punto Beach starting at 1:00 pm.

5º “Batizado” Capoeira Art Festival (April 8-9)

This event to be held in San Francisco, also known as San Pancho, will offer workshops, classes, batizado ceremonies and conferences related to this martial art for both beginners and advanced. Brazilian master Paulinho Velho heads the list of special guests and instructors joining the festival. San Pancho is considered the cultural capital of the Riviera Nayarit and it is located 45 minutes away from Puerto Vallarta by car.

17º Guayafest (April 9-10)

For all those VW fans out there, Rincon de Guayabitos will display tens of VG cars, from classic to current, in this beautiful beach town as part of the Guayafest 2016. This long-awaited event features entertainment and music, and is organized by TPC Bugs Club, a community formed by VG vehicles fans.

Rincon de Guayabitos is located just one hour away from Puerto Vallarta by car and it is possible to get there by the bus lines departing from the Bus Terminal to Guadalajara or Tepic.

Laser World Championship 2016 (April 12-20 / April 22-30)

Two stages of this international event will take place in the Riviera Nayarit, gathering the world’s best sailors: the Laser Women World’s Championship and the Laser Master World Championship. The venue of the competitions will be the Vallarta Yacht Club in Nuevo Vallarta and applications are now open at http://www.laserworlds2016.org/index.php/es/

Salsa Mambo Fest (April 21-24)

Talented salsa and mambo dancers from all around the continent will attend this festival at Marival Resort and Suites in Nuevo Vallarta to share their dance moves and have a great time. The activities of the event include the concert of Dominican artist Kiki Rodriguez, who will perform in Mexico for the very first time on Saturday, April 23.

Open Water Swimming Competition (April 23)

One of the most important sport competitions around the bay will gather swimmers from different ages in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle. The event includes a 3.75 km amateur race and the professional category features a 5 km race. The victor of the professional category will win a trophy and $4,000 MXN.

Children‘s Fishing Tournament (April 30)

Kids of all ages will be able to celebrate their day attending this recreational and sport activity in which they will learn fishing techniques in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle. The event is open to the public and it will be held at Marina Riviera Nayarit. La Cruz de Huanacaxtle is a fishing town located north of Puerto Vallarta and you can easily get there by driving for approximately 30 minutes. Public transportation departing from Walmart in front of Maritime Terminal is also available.
