Best friends can share a wonderful early afternoon at the 11th Annual Pet Picnic, to take place at Daiquiri Dick’s on December 3, starting at 11 am and continuing until 2 pm. The event includes a costume contest, raffle and other surprises.

“I simply cannot believe this is our eleventh year,” says Laura Gelezunas, event organizer. “Daiquiri Dick’s owner, Tari Bowman, and I put this event together on a whim, hoping that people would show up with their dogs. The response has been overwhelming and there are people that have joined us every year. It is really amazing.” The restaurant has always been pet friendly.

Admission price is $350 MX in advance, $400 at the door. The price includes a boxed lunch with choice of sandwich and a doggie bag for your buddy and tip but beverages are not included. This event has grown over the years, so advance ticket purchase is highly recommended.

All monies raised are donated to PEACE Animals. They conduct high volume, mobile, spay and neuter clinics for companion animals in Jalisco and Nayarit. This program is grass roots and reaches out to those that cannot afford to go to the vet and the service is free. They typically set up the clinic in colonias at homes, businesses or government buildings. The clinics run three and a half days and the vets have sterilized over 140 animals in that time frame. PEACE Animals operates on over 4000 companion animals per year. They have 501(c)(3) status in the U.S. with Banderas Bay Charities, Inc. (BBC Inc.)

The mobile spay and neuter clinics prevent unwanted births, and reduce the number of dogs and cats on the streets hit by cars, poisoned, diseased or starving.  Spaying and neutering also reduces or can eliminate many health problems and injuries that are difficult and/or expensive to treat.  Additionally, the amount of male dog and cat fights are radically reduced. Humans are less likely to be injured by cats and dogs and communities are cleaner and safer.  Many animal shelters in Mexico are not operating due to a lack of government funds, even though shelters are required by law. Sterilizing companion animals helps reduce many issues.

The costume contest starts at noon, so be prompt. Tickets are $350 in advance and $400 at the door. They can be obtained at Daiquiri Dick’s, which is located at Olas Altas 314, Colonia Emiliano Zapata. For more information, please call (322) 222-0566.

“In a meeting that we had with the magazine’s founder, he told us about his dream of making a quality and luxury publication because he was convinced that Puerto Vallarta needed that. For that reason, we have advertised in Vallarta Lifestyles since its beginnings. These days, our brand is very well positioned thanks to the strategic distribution of the magazine, as it helps us reach more potential customers which is a great benefit for us.”

“We started to advertise in Vallarta Lifestyles because since its beginnings and to date it keeps using modern technological equipment to produce it and it is possible to notice that in the quality of the magazine, which offers interesting topics about the life of our destination through its articles and interviews to well known personalities. Actually, I keep a collection in my personal library.”

“Vallarta Lifestyles has readers from Punta de Mita to Mismaloya and beyond, so announcing my business, means the positioning and recognition of my agency throughout the region. The contents of the magazine are very interesting, because they provide relevant information about activities in the destination. I am pleased to see it at hotels, restaurants and galleries, but what excites me the most is to see people with their issue in hand. That is really relevant for us.”
