Exploring the Puerto Vallarta’s Botanical Garden
South of Puerto Vallarta, amidst the majestic mountains of the Sierra Madre Occidental, lies the Vallarta Botanical Garden, an internationally recognized natural preserve that dazzles nature lovers with its extraordinary diversity of flora and fauna. Open to the public for 18 years, this extraordinary place has become a benchmark in environmental conservation.
The Vallarta Botanical Garden offers a unique experience through its collections of plants displayed in ponds, greenhouses, bridges and iconic buildings such as the charming Garden Chapel. In addition, its wild trails invite visitors to explore lush nature, creating the perfect opportunity for magnificent walks and moments of contemplation.
This sanctuary plays a fundamental role in environmental conservation and the protection of endangered species. Located in one of Mexico’s most biodiverse ecosystems, the garden’s 120 acres contain an impressive variety of orchids, magnolias, oaks, bromeliads, agaves, and palms, among other species.
Internationally acclaimed, the Botanical Garden received the prestigious “Garden Excellence Award 2022” from the American Public Gardens Association and was highlighted as one of the “Best Gardens to Visit in 2024” by the Garden Tourism Conference. It is also currently collaborating with Botanical Gardens Conservation International in the United Kingdom on native orchid research.
Recently, at the International Garden Tourism Conference in Canada, the Botanic Garden’s founder, Robert Price, shared his expertise in a conference on “What Makes a Garden a Destination?” alongside the CEO of The Butchart Gardens. This event brought together delegates from 12 countries and highlighted the importance of collaboration between gardens and the tourism sector to attract more visitors to these natural spaces.
