Fashionable, stylish, chic, trendy, elegant, hip, smart and modish — not shoes or hairstyles, but everything required for your Vallarta home! From sofas to refrigerators, lighting to rugs, find it all — for indoors and out — just a short ride north of the airport in Las Juntas, along the highway to Tepic.

Design a spectacular kitchen with the help of staff architects from HighEnd Equipos y Cocinas, located in the Banco Santander center near Boca de Tomates. Next door, visit Gabrielle for stunning wood floors, doors and related hardware. Choices range from laminates to imported woods, and installation services are available. And don’t miss the newest branch of the venerable Rattan de Guadalajara in the same center. After 65 years of manufacturing in Guadalajara, this firm shows the latest in indoor and outdoor furnishings.

At Plaza Las Juntas, a little farther south on the highway, start at dettaglio, where a complete line of modern, moderately priced furnishings allows you to mix modular elements and colors to express your individual taste. The company, with branches throughout Mexico, also boasts its own line of tasteful kitchen and bar accessories. At Habitania discover 500 square meters of contemporary design. In addition to furniture, the store shows attractive accessories, and it is the sole local distributor of raku ceramics, a special technique developed in 16th-century Japan.

Al Deco boasts a variety of styles in furniture and rugs — modern, minimalist and contemporary — while at Art by Design you’re encouraged to come play with all the elements and build your rooms around the wide selection of art and accessories. At Tradiciones view well-crafted Mexican furniture and fine art from a wide variety of providers throughout Mexico. Construlita — Luz and Light provides high-tech lighting solutions and an array of decorative ceiling fans. Next door, at PvKlean, you will find a variety of decorative accents made of marble onyx and other semi-precious stones.

With 40 years’ experience in Guadalajara, Artrel makes available contemporary art for all aspects of the home and office. Visit EuroGabinetes for kitchen planning and cabinets manufactured right in Puerto Vallarta. Minha Casa is the exclusive distributor of designer furniture imported from Brazil and made of exotic and tropical woods. If you don’t want the children climbing on the new couch, go to Big Kids, where the collection is geared to the younger set, with sturdy bed/desk combinations and everything to match. And if hip and funky is your thing, it doesn’t get any better than Guga, where you will find all sorts of contemporary furnishings imported from Europe.

Most of these establishments offer interior design services, and many will work with you to plan a “package” of furnishings. Several shops are open throughout the day, but to be safe, check for comida closings. And if you’re going to need a hammer and nails to put up the perfect painting or a shelf to show off that dramatic vase, be sure to cross the road and stop at the Home Depot on the way home!

But wait! Just when you imagined you had seen it all, mere minutes south of the airport, in Marina Vallarta’s Plaza Neptuno and environs, is an even larger concentration of home décor shops worthy of your attention.

Across from the plaza on Fco. Medina Ascencio, you will find Mobarq / Artex and Nuvell, a two-floor exploration of contemporary furnishings: leather couches, dining room sets and more. Nearby, the Interceramic showroom makes planning the perfect bath a pleasure, with its array of sparkling fixtures, faucets, flooring and wall tiles. Legacy Manor Furniture design center manages to cover most of the bases, from window treatments and ceiling fans to imported and made-to-order furnishings, Tio Sam now selling kitchen appliances and cabinets in the same expansive space. Next door, at the funky Galeria EM, you’ll find all manner of intriguing decorative objects in glass made on the premises, with tours available.

Exotic and eclectic, Arte Primitivo is a commanding presence in the plaza, with decorative treasures galore from Asia and Africa. Offering a complete interior design service, Artell features fabulous imported fabrics from around the world. “We have been clients of Vallarta Lifestyles since 1999, the year in which we arrived to this destination. Back then, it was the only publication where you could really do local marketing. These days, in spite of the arrival of new technologies, we keep advertising, because it is a really important complement for our marketing strategy.”

“One of the biggest benefits of advertising in Vallarta Lifestyles is that a lot of readers keep it as a bible. People have arrived to our gallery looking for the pieces that are in the advertisements published 5 or 6 years ago, and that’s really valuable for us. Besides being an excellent magazine where is possible to find the newest in the destination, it is a publication dedicated to the public we want to reach and keep.”

“Vallarta Lifestyles, from its inception has been a quality reference. In some way, it has managed to consolidate the destination because all our restaurants where there and we communicate as an exchange platform. The benefit, besides advertisement and recommendation, is that this publication is a solid copy of Puerto Vallarta’s evolution. If you pick up an old issue, immediately you’ll recall precious memories.”
