Frida (and other Fearless Women) Will Take Center Stage at Art Vallarta
The success of last year’s art exhibition “Fearless Frida” at ART Vallarta Gallery, has inspired a new and bigger redux of the theme for this year: “Frida and All Fearless (Persistent) Women — and the Men Who Champion Them.” The opening celebration for this new exhibit will take place this coming Saturday, February 18, from 6:00pm – 9:00pm at the venue located on calle Pilitas 213, in colonia Emiliano Zapata.
More than 40 original pieces from local and international artists will be on display and the exhibition will run through March 11 (Everyday except Sundays from 10:00am – 4:00pm).
“We are celebrating the roles that fearless women have played in art and politics, both historically and today, in tearing down walls holding back social progress,” says Nathalie Herling, ART Vallarta’s founder and director.
“With the world’s political uncertainty growing every day, women must assert themselves as strong, caring individuals as well as bonds of community. Our art on display will reflect that,” Herling says.
Female guests are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Fearless Woman, whether Frida Kahlo or Julia Conesa, Angela Davis, María Félix, Dolores Huerta, Georgia O’Keefe, Sophie Scholl or any of hundreds others through the ages and around the world. Men are also encouraged to dress up as historical figures who have supported fearless women over time.
