Galeria Contempo announces a reception featuring works by Marco Alvarez. Finisterras is the latest project of the Mexican artist, which features unpublished canvas and ceramic works produced in 2015 and 2016. The artist will be present at the event, to be held on Friday March 18 from 6 to 10 pm.

The etymologic sense of the word Finisterras means the limit of earth or end of earth, and the inspiration for this exhibition came from Alvarez’ recent travels through places around the Tropic of Cancer. From his environment on Banderas Bay to the Bosphoros, the Cantabria coast, the Atlantic Ocean along Galician and Portuguese coasts, the turquoise waters of the Aegean, Ionic and Adriatic Seas, the Mediterranean and Sea of Cortez, it is an interpretation of the world’s geography and its contemporary contrasts and forms.

By using a multi-colored palette, Alvarez presents images and textures which are not necessarily photographic reality but his own way of committing his travel experience on to canvas.

Marco Alvarez was born in Mexico City in 1964 and he is a graduate of the National Autonomous University of Mexico School of Architecture. His work has been shown in more than 45 exhibitions at museums and galleries in Mexico, United States and Europe.

Galeria Contempo is located on Basilio Badillo 252 in Colonia Emiliano Zapata. For more information, please visit www.galeriacontempo.com or its Facebook page.

“We have a close relationship with Vallarta Lifestyles. Since it beginnings, it has been the most important media for the touristic promotion of our destination. Its content has always been excellent, due to the quality of its articles and spectacular photos. For the type of readers that it reaches, this the ideal publication to advertise our listings.”

“Vallarta Lifestyles has readers from Punta de Mita to Mismaloya and beyond, so announcing my business, means the positioning and recognition of my agency throughout the region. The contents of the magazine are very interesting, because they provide relevant information about activities in the destination. I am pleased to see it at hotels, restaurants and galleries, but what excites me the most is to see people with their issue in hand. That is really relevant for us.”
